The ADN Requirements

The job market today is highly competitive and without the right background, it will hard to secure a job in your chosen profession. True enough, there is an increasing demand for nursing students but you have to meet the ADN requirements if you want to take up the ADN degree.

ADN Requirements

You have to ensure that the nursing courses you’ve taken up have a grade “C”equivalent or a point average of at least 2.0;you will need to finish the subjects under the RN education. By studying biology, you will learn about the body and how you will treat it. The grade “C”is needed in math, English, sociology, computer literacy, and writing.

What if you don’t have the course requirements yet? Well, if you didn’t complete the course requirements, you will need to enroll now. Find a community college now and finish the basic courses first. Pre-med courses are really important if you want to take the ADN degree because this will serve as your preparatory course. You have to inquire in your state is the pre-med course is required.

Another thing that you have to take is the SAT. Make sure that you get 940 or higher if you want to qualify for the ADN degree. For foreign students, they need to take the TOEFL or English proficiency examination and should obtain at least 5 Cs in the GCSE.

Are there any high school programs that can prepare you for the ADN degree? If there are, then it’s a good idea to take up such programs. You can also get LVN or LPN certifications to gain theoretical and practical knowledge.

ADN Requirements and Exam

These are the requirements for you take the ADN degree and it doesn’t end there. The degree will take you about two years to finish and once you’ve completed it, you will now have to take the NCLEX-RN examination. You have to pass the exam or else you can’t work as a registered nurse.

Your tasks will be mainly to handle or dispense medication, supervise LVNs, explain test results, run some lab tests, and collect samples. These will be your day to day routine and just in case you desire for a management position, the ADN degree won’t get you there. You will have to consider taking up the BSN degree.

As a graduate of the ADN degree program, you will be qualified to take the BSN degree for promotion.
